Jul 16 | Membership Information Session

When: July 16th, 2025
Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Where: Community Services Office – 300 Chilcotin Rd.

What the event is for:

  1. Do you have a child that hasn’t applied for “Full” Band Membership?
  2. Are you looking to “Transfer” from another nation to the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc?

This is an Information session to support the application of “Affiliates” and “Transfer” from other nations to TteS.

Backgrounder

An “Affiliate“ is a Status Indian, with a Status Number starting with “688”, without Band Membership.

In 1985 the then Department of Indian Affairs amendment the “Indian Act” and separated “Status” from “Membership“. This amendment allowed bands to choose to either be a band under Section 11 (Keeping Status & Membership connected) or to be a band under Section 10 (Status & Membership are separate).

On November 3, 2020, after ratifying & accepting the Membership Code, Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc became a Section 10 Band.

“Indians” registered when TteS was still a Section 11 Band, before the November 3rd “Cut-off”, were automatically added to the Bandlist as “Full” Band members.

“Indians” who were registered with ISC, after to the November 3rd “Cut-off” when TteS became a Section 10 Band, became a Status Indian with a Status Number starting with “688” but received no Band Membership with TteS and became an “Affiliate”.

“Affiliates” need to apply for TteS Band Membership, meet the criteria in the Membership Code, and be accepted by a quorum of the 13 Grass Roots Family Representatives that have formed and lead the Membership Committee – in order to become a “Full” TteS band member.
