About the Knúcwmens le Sxwixwéytemc Archaeology Services Ltd. (KSAS) Archaeological Mentorship Program

Knúcwmens le Sxwixwéytemc Archaeology Services Ltd. (KSAS) is pleased to introduce the KSAS Archaeological Mentorship Program, running this spring.

This initiative will offer participants the opportunity to advance their skills and experience in the field of Indigenous Archaeology. By creating dynamic learning spaces focused on building practical skills through both field-based and office-based training, the program will emphasize on-the-job learning while fostering meaningful connections to land, culture, and community.

This program is open to KSAS employees and will aim to offer individualized learning support based on self-assessment and identified learning outcomes. With the prioritization of workplace-based learning, this initiative aims to complement—and challenge—the reliance on institutionalized post-secondary education that often occurs outside of community and disconnected from cultural protocols, laws, and current best practices.

Participants will build knowledge through direct mentorship with in-house professionals, targeted workshops with industry experts, and select external training opportunities. Mentees will be paired with multiple mentors throughout the program, allowing for focused skill development across a range of archaeological practices.

Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare to launch this initiative.
