Dates: March 20 & 21
Times: 9AM – 4PM
Venue: Community Services

Safety for all community members is a priority for Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc. We haves initiated a community safety planning process with Public Safety Canada to address community safety and wellness challenges. Community members are invited to attend the workshops and help in developing our safety plan.

The Aboriginal Community Safety Planning Initiative (ACSPI) is designed to:

  • Support the development of a community safety plan that responds to community safety challenges including crime prevention, wellness and safety
  • Support healing through a community-driven process that works to address multiple safety and wellness issues, as determined by the community

The planning activities within the process are geared at moving toward a stronger future. The planning process takes into account:

  • The community and the Big Picture
  • Looking at where the community is at
  • Creating the environment for change
  • Planning for change
  • Overcoming pitfalls
  • Mobilizing the community and taking action

The ACSPI Principles are:

  • To be holistic
  • To be culturally relevant
  • To encourage community involvement
  • Recognize gifts and strengths of individuals and communities
  • Be respectful of each community’s current state
  • Developed by and for Indigenous Peoples
