Cultural Burning Workshops

Workshops take place the week of February 27 – March 3 from 8:30 am—3:00 pm each day. Community Welcome. All workshops at held at Tswéllewten (White Tech Building) 363 Chief Alex Thomas Way. Honorariums will be available for elders to attend, transportation provided

Speakers starting at 6 pm & Completion Ceremonies at 7 pm

  • Lloyd Ley (Splatsin) to talk about indigenous fallers
  • Jennifer Morrison and Colleen Seymour on traditional plants and the benefits of cultural burning
  • Harry Spahan will talk about the cultural burning protocols and storytelling
  • Shane Wardrobe will speak on the policy and procedures for cultural burns on TteS land. Also the development of a Wildland Firefighting Crew for TteS
