About

The Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) Education Department is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational support to our community members, fostering lifelong learning from early childhood through post-secondary education and beyond. By managing funds from Indigenous Services Canada, we ensure that every learner has access to quality education that not only meets academic standards but also reflects and honors the unique Secwépemc language, culture, values, heritage, and traditions. Our goal is to empower individuals to achieve their educational and career aspirations while strengthening their connection to their identity, community, and history. Through culturally rooted programs and initiatives, we strive to create a strong foundation for future generations to thrive.

  • Early Childhood Education
The Little Fawn Nursery (LFN) complies with all applicable licensing regulations and standards. Our nursery is subject to inspection by province and city health, fire and licensing officials. Current programming focuses on Secwépemc culture, values, tradition and language; however, children of all backgrounds are welcome. The nursery is pleased to offer early childhood (0-5 years old) education programs based on child enrollment and community need.
  • Post-Secondary Support
Each year, the Post-Secondary Education program funds eligible Tk̓emlúpsemc post-secondary students to obtain higher levels of education at various Post-Secondary institutions across Canada. TteS members are participating in a diverse range of Post-Secondary Programs from upgrading to Graduate Studies. Our post-secondary program also provides certificate, diploma and degree programs in community and based on community needs.
  • Primary & Secondary Education
The K-12 Program (nominal roll and BC TEA), administers funding and programming for on-reserve Tk̓emlúpsemc and First Nations students registered with other bands but live on Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc reserve lands. Nominal roll and BC TEA funding are allocated per capita and are given to TteS to administer. These funding allocations only include those students who meet the following funding criteria: at least 4 years of age as of December of that year, reside on the reserve and have First Nations ancestry.
  • Trades and Training Programs:
Our trades and training program provides our membership with the opportunity to acquire practical training and employment skills with the objective of increasing participation in the labour market and collaborate with partners to provide them with skilled workers. Work with our members to gain meaningful employment within the industry based on their areas of interest.
  • Youth Employment and Training:
The Youth Employment and Training program supports education and provides employment services to TteS youth (ages 13-29). The programming provides various training and employment positions so that youth may be mentored to learn and gain excellent work ethics. Our goal is to assist our youth with entering careers of their choice to become self reliant and valuable contributing members to their family, community and nation. This includes supports for entering into the work force and pursuing academic goals.
