A goal within Tḱemlúps te Secwépemc’s 2015 Comprehensive Community Plan, which engages community members in planning a holistic long-term vision for a community, was the development of a grocery store on-reserve. Sweláps Market not only fulfills this goal by being on-reserve but is also entirely owned by Tḱemlúps te Secwépemc, further contributing to the band’s economic sovereignty. Strategically located along the highway, it plays a vital role as the cornerstone of the emerging commercial complex, Chief Louis Crossing. With a spacious 22,000 sqft layout, the store offers a variety of services, including catering and food service functions. Its in-store bakery, deli, meat, seafood, produce, and ready-to-go meal options cater to diverse needs, emphasizing convenience and accessibility for the community.
