The Tk̓emlúps Community Safety department previously know as “Bylaws” works to promote compliance with Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) bylaws, regulations, and programs. These services are primarily accomplished through public relations, education and awareness programs, and enforcement.

TteS has several policies and bylaws that have been put in place to ensure the health and safety of our residents and the protection of the environment.

Enhancing Public Safety

A Community Safety Officer (CSO) is a specialized role focused on supporting community safety and addressing public nuisance issues. CSOs operate under the same legislation as Bylaw Enforcement Officers. The current legislation related to the bylaw profession is not adequate in addressing social nuisance and public safety matters; calls that are now commonly being tasked to those employed in the bylaw profession. They conduct patrols, engage with vulnerable citizens, and work to resolve problems through various methods. CSOs address contraventions of bylaws, incidents of public disorder and assists people in need, with an emphasis on voluntary compliance strategies. CSOs often work in collaboration with other organizations and agencies to provide comprehensive support.
